Last summer IrMa Scherer volunteered at the ShowerPower house. She wrote a series of beautiful reflections. Thank you IrMa!

Hair is often seen as a reflection of our identity.
Many women, including me, feel uncomfortable when the hair is too fine, too frizzy, too dry, turning grey or falling out.
It often affects our self-esteem.
Therefore one of the things we do at the ShowerPower house is taking care of the women’s hair, if time allows.
We brush, we blow-dry, we massage and we braid.
The past few days I braided a lot of hair!
And oh boy, that hair tell a story of their own. It needs no words to understand from the hair what many of those women went through. We see a lot of women with hair in a bad condition: very dry, super fizzy, all tousled. We see twelve year old kids with as many grey hairs as women in their 40’s normally have. We see women with big bold patches on their head. We see shaved heads as a result of lice.
But we also see big smiles and hugs when we finished our job in the beauty saloon and give those women some of their self-esteem back!
